SYMPHONY SOIREE FEATURES GUEST ARTIST MARGIE MAY OTT
SPOKANE Entering its third season at the Davenport Hotel, the opulent Chamber Soiree series has become one of the Spokane Symphony's most popular musical events. Set in the courtly and ornate Marie Antionette Ballroom, listeners are invited to enjoy the musical experience while the musicians themselves introduce the music. The next concerts in the series are on Wednesday and Thursday, January 12 and 13, 2005 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is unique in that it features a guest artist, Margie May Ott.
Listeners are seated at cocktail tables with wine and hors d'oeuvres. This unique setting provides a cabaret atmosphere for an intimate listening experience. The table seating is sold out but gallery seating is available. Beverages are available for purchase for those seated in the gallery.
The Chamber Soiree program feature pieces from W.A. Mozart, Serge Prokofiev, Bo Nilson and Robert Schumann. By popular demand, Nilson's Bass featuring Principal Tuba Leonard Byrne and Principal Percussion Paul Raymond returns from 2003's performance. The Tuba and Gong piece drew rave reviews at the previous performance. Margie May Ott will accompany Schumann's Piano Quartet with Kelly Farris, violin; Nick Carper, viola; John Marshall, cello; and Darryl Miyasato, bass. Mrs. Ott, a popular 84-year-old piano teacher, was honored as National Piano Teacher of the Year in 2004.
Tickets are available Monday through Friday from 9:30-5:00 p.m. at the Spokane Symphony Ticket Office at 818 West Riverside Avenue or by calling (509) 624-1200. Tickets are also available on weekends and evenings, with a service charge, through Ticketswest at 325-SEAT, 1-800-325-SEAT or www.spokanesymphony.org.
