Spokane— Academy Award-winning actor and multiple Grammy Award-winning performer, Robin Williams returns to the stage on Jan. 14, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. when he sits down to “chat” with his old friend, comedian, actor, director and author David Steinberg. The tickets go on sale to the public Monday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.
Steinberg and Williams will discuss a variety of topics such as his films, Mork & Mindy, Hollywood anecdotes, the world of stand up comedy and his own life, all of which, inevitably, will be given the very special, very funny & poignant Robin Williams treatment. The show titled “
A Evening of Sit Down with Robin Williams and special guest Comedian and Director David Steinburg” is sure to be a night to remember and fans are encouraged to reserve their tickets now as scheduled dates in Canada have already sold out.
Unparalleled in the scope of his imagination, Robin Williams continues to add to his repertoire of indelible characters. Well known for his free-associative monologues and for pointing out life's absurdities through his astute social and political observations, Williams performed 90 shows in 65 cities before 300,000 fans over the course of his most recent stand-up tour.
Williams is perhaps most widely revered for his performance as the therapist who counsels Matt Damon's math genius character in Gus Van Sant's Good Will Hunting. His performance earned Williams an Oscar® and Screen Actors Guild award. The Academy previously nominated Williams for Best Actor in The Fisher King, Dead Poets Society, and Good Morning Vietnam.
Offstage, Williams takes great joy in supporting causes too numerous to identify. Headlining a number of USO tours, he has toured the Middle East five times to help raise morale among the troops and is perhaps best known philanthropically for his affiliation with "Comic Relief" which was founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization to help America's homeless. To date, "Comic Relief" has raised over $50 million.
An award winning comedian, David Steinberg has directed several films, as well as many of the most successful sitcoms on TV, including Seinfeld, Friends, Mad About You, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Designing Women. He appeared 130 times on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson and was its youngest guest host. During the 1960s & 70s he was one of the best-known stand up comics in the US. His The David Steinberg Show was the precursor to The Larry Sanders Show, going behind-the-scenes on a fictional TV talk show. More recently, he hosted the TV show Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg, featuring such guests as Mike Myers, Larry David, Martin Short, Jerry Seinfeld, Bob Newhart, Jon Stewart and many others.
Robin Williams & David Steinberg are appearing at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox as part of the Spotlight Series. Ticket prices are $127, $117, $102 and $88. In addition, the $127 tickets may be purchased as part of a Meet and Greet Ticket Package for $375. A VIP Tour Package at $225 includes a $117 ticket.
