The Spokane Symphony and the Spokane Symphony Associates’ new and exciting early summer fundraiser, Best Fest, continues with The Best of the Movie Music of John Williams concert inside the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox and the Maestro’s Brew Party in a tent in the parking lot on Friday, June 5. The event, part of Downtown Spokane’s First Friday, begins with the Maestro’s Brew Party at 5 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and the Brew Party continues until 10:30 p.m. after the concert.

Directed by Maestro Eckart Preu, the Best of John Williams will features some of his finest movie scores, including Star Wars themes with an appearance by members of the 501st Platoon in full Star Wars’ character dress.  Other selections include music from Hook, Jaws, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, E.T., Superman, 1941 andMunich. The orchestra will also play NFL Football themes.

In conjunction with the concert, the Maestro’s Brew Party will be take place in tents in the theater parking lot from 5 to 10:30 p.m. and will feature beer sampling, including a special Maestro’s Brew, provided by Coeur d’Alene Brewing Company. The head brewers at the Steam Plant Grill and Coeur d’Alene Brewing Company worked with Eckart to discover what the German-born conductor liked in a beer. After tasting and discussing Eckart’s favorite beer profiles, they created a new recipe for the Maestro’s Brew. When it came time to brew this recipe for the first time ever, he was right there to participate in the process. After the Brew Party, Maestro’s Brew will be available to the public at the Steam Plant Grill until the batch is gone. Owners of the Steam Plant Grill, Ron and Julie Wells, Gage and Spencer Stromberg, will make a donation to the Symphony for each pint sold. It will also be featured at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox all summer.

$15 tickets to the Maestro’s Brew Party include cover, 5 beer samples and live music from 5 to 7 p.m. and again after the concert. With the purchase of a ticket to the not-to-be-missed Best of John Williams concert, admission the Maestro’s Brew Party is just $5 for the first 5 samples.

Tickets for the concert are $20, $30, $40.
