Mozart once said, "My Praguers understand me." The Prague production of "The Marriage of Figaro" was so successful that Mozart chose to premiere two other operas ("Don Giovanni" and "La clemenza di Tito" there, rather than in Venice. Completing the program are two romantic serenades by the native Czech masters: one, Dvorak's folk dance inspired serenade for (mostly) wind instruments, and the other by Josef Suk, Dvorak's son-in-law, for string orchestra. The concert also features two pieces for cello and orchestra.
listen to Suk's Serenade for Strings on YouTube: movement 1, movement 2, movement 3 and movement 4.
