Education Classics Concert

Education Classics Concert

Each year, the Spokane Symphony honors educators at a designated Education Classics concert.  This year our Education Concert will be on Sunday March 25, 2012, at 3 p.m. During the show, we will present an Outstanding Arts Advocate Administrator Award and an Outstanding Music Teacher Award in recognition of exceptional administrative support for the Arts in schools and exceptional music teachers in our region.   Teachers and students are invited to submit nominees for this year’s awards.  All teachers are eligible for a ½ price ticket to this concert.  Also included is an Instrument Donation collection in the lobby to benefit public school music programs in dire need of instruments for student use.  Instruments may be brought to the concert and donors will be issued a receipt and valuation assessment letter for tax purposes, as well as two complimentary tickets to a specified Symphony concert..

Essay Contest

This year's essay topic is: "If I was the conductor of the Spokane Symphony...."

Teachers, this contest is open to all high school students.  Essays should be 250-300 words and will be accepted through March 1, 2012.  The winning essay will be published in the program of the Spokane Symphony’s Education Classics concert on March 25 at 3pm in the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.

The winner will receive complimentary tickets, be acknowledged during the concert and will have the opportunity to meet Music Director Eckart Preu.  In addition, the winner’s class will also receive concert tickets!

Please submit essays or any question to Janet Napoles, Manager of Education Programs, Spokane Symphony, PO Box 365, Spokane Wa 99210-0365, or janetnapoles@spokanesymphony.org, or call 464-7062.

Outstanding Arts Advocate Administrator and Outstanding Music Teacher Awards

Teachers and students are invited to submit nominees for this year’s awards.

Who is eligible?  Any private or public school administrator or music teacher is eligible.  Nominees should currently teach within the greater Spokane Community (Spokane, Spokane Valley, Mead, Medical Lake, Cheney, Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene).  Nominations by colleagues, students, alumni, faculty, principals, other administrators, and self-nominations are acceptable.

The Award:  One administrator and one music teacher will each receive 2 complimentary tickets, plus up to 10 tickets for staff, for Classics 5, (March 25, 2012), and will be recognized onstage at that concert for their leadership role. The award winner will be selected by the Spokane Symphony Education Committee.  Current members of the Spokane Symphony Education Committee are not eligible for the award.

For award recommendations, please prepare a Nomination Packet with the following:
