Spokane’s Fox Theater Seeks General Manager
Do you have experience putting into place the winning formula for a regional performing arts center? Would you like to be part of the equation for ongoing success of Spokane’s Art Deco gem? Set in downtown Spokane and on the National Register of Historic Places, the Fox Theater originally opened in 1931. In 2000, when the building was slated for demolition, the Spokane Symphony purchased it. After an extensive renovation that brought it back to its former glory, it re-opened to the public in 2007 as the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Along with the Spokane Symphony as its anchor tenant, the theater is home to other community arts organizations and hosts business meetings, graduations, weddings, and other special events, along with a varied “Fox Presents” series.
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations and financial management of this 1,600 seat venue that serves as a regional performing arts center. This position is also responsible for program development, booking, event planning, and scheduling of the facility. The General Manager reports to the Executive Director.
This position requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in theater/facility management; a track record of recognized leadership and superior performance with the operation of a performing arts center including successful booking; minimum requirements of a bachelor’s degree in business or theater/facility management. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong management and administrative skills, creativity, strategic thinking and the ability to interact effectively with others. This position also requires the flexibility to work hours beyond the normal workday to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, professional, organized and articulate. This person will interact and collaborate with various constituencies of our organization and community, and must be able to effectively and independently assess problems and initiate successful solutions. We are seeking someone who has professional integrity, excellent management skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time and a sense of humor.
