Finance Director

The Spokane Symphony is seeking applicants for the position of Finance Director. The Finance Director is the chief financial officer for the organization, and will have the responsibility of overseeing and executing all of the tasks of the finance department and ensuring financial literacy throughout the organization. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in designing and implementing financial systems, from overseeing the flow of money in and out of the organization, to designing and preparing budgets, monthly reports for a wide variety of constituents, and will play an active role in the daily finance function of the organization.  


The successful candidate will have deep well of experience to draw on, and will express a strong desire to build their own, highly successful finance department. They will be an intensely critical thinker, capable of architecting creative and industry-leading solutions, and will demonstrate grace under pressure. Director of Marketing and Sales

The Director of Marketing and Sales is the chief marketing officer for the organization, and will have the responsibility of oversight and accountability for all of the tasks of the marketing department, as well as the ticketing office. The ticketing office serves the needs of all symphony patrons, as well as functions as the sole source for tickets and information for all Fox Theater performances.

This role has numerous critical success factors. First is to own the process of budgeting and forecasting sales goals, and to ensure that those goals are met consistently. Second is to own the overall process around the organization’s visibility, both in the sense of organizational brand awareness, and also around individual concerts, series, programs and initiatives – both on and off the stage. Third is to oversee all production materials for events, including marketing materials and program books. Fourth is to have absolute ownership over the way in which the organization interacts with current and potential customers. This entails Ticket Office procedure and policy, setting Front of House procedures in coordination with the Fox Production Department, and ensuring a consistent, positive, and visible presence at all Symphony events. Finally, the Director of Marketing and Sales will have a role in the artistic planning process, providing relevant input around industry trends in customer interests, and will ensure that the body of evidence used to make informed artistic planning decisions includes relevant, focused and recent data from our own community and our existing patron base.

The successful candidate will have substantial relevant experience, be well versed in orchestra and hall operations, and be an ebullient orchestra evangelist. They will be able to immediately demonstrate exquisite verbal and written communication skills, and have a reputation as a team builder and leader within their current organization. They should also have strong financial acumen, be able to quickly read, digest, and create meaningful financial summaries for staff, board, and other stakeholder groups.

They will be an intensely critical thinker, capable of architecting creative and industry-leading solutions, will demonstrate grace under pressure, and be able to see opportunities, prioritize challenges, and lead their team with aplomb.
